Computer turning off waking from sleep

Gage G

Hello everyone! I just recently built a computer for my father but he told me it has started to do something weird. When the computer wakes up from a sleeping state, the fans will spin for a brief second, then the whole machine will shut off. I have scoured online for a solution but was unable to find anything that helps. The specs will be below, and let me know if there is anything else I need to provide to help with the troubleshooting process.

Ryzen 3900X

RTX 2070 Super

Corsair iCUE H100i 240 mm Radiator

EVGA 220-GA-0750-X1 Super Nova 750 Ga, 80 Plus Gold 750W

GigaByte x570 Aorus Pro Wifi

Samsung 970 Evo SSD

Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2x16GB)

NZXT H710 Case

Will it ever come on? If he pushes the power button again does it then come on and boot?

Or is the only thing it will do is power up for a moment and turn back off as you described?

Below are some suggested tsing steps at this point.

  • Make sure all connectors and cables are plugged in securely, reseat if possible.
  • Make sure your RAM, CPU and GPU are plugged in securely, reseat if possible.
  • If the motherboard you're using has debug LEDs, check the error code and consult the motherboard manual to see what it means.
  • If you have a debug speaker connected to the motherboard, note the beep sequence and consult the motherboard manual or this thread to see what it means.
  • Try clearing your CMOS.
  • Try booting your computer with only a motherboard, CPU and one stick of RAM attached (if you don't have an integrated GPU, plug in your GPU as well ).
  • Make sure your GPU works (if you have a dedicated one), try it in another computer if possible.
  • Make sure your RAM works, try it another computer if possible.
