CPU / motherboard to match with 3080 RTX

First and foremost, is this the right time? I know the 3080 is backordered. No clue about the CPU environment, if things are about to change.

Specs in signature.

Kinda biased towards Intel, and my ram is only at 3000 mhz. Also sometimes hear about bugs on the Steam forums when users have Ryzen.

98% used for gaming. Budget is roughly 1300 CAD (~1000 USD) max. Less is more.

Not an overclocker and don't need gamerz brandingz.

If you could, I'd recommend waiting until Ryzen 5000 series are released in a couple weeks. Even if ryzen isn't something you're after, competition might have intel put their cpu's on sale, especially closer to the holidays.

Well said. Maybe also wait for Black Friday sales for a lower price.

Do you already have a setup? (computer, peripherals)

Didn't know that, thanks. Yeah it's not a pressing matter at all.

Yup. Going for a higher than usual budget because it's something I want competitive for 3+ years.

The problem with the new CPUs is that they are not coming in at a price point for 1K gaming rig..

This would still do awesome.
