should i upgrade to an older gen?

currently, i have a ryzen 3 3200g with 16gb (ddr4) of ram and an rx580 8gb. i found a kijiji ad for a prebuilt with an fx 8120 , 550ti, and 8gb (ddr3). should i use the cpu and mobo in my system, and buy more ram? would it make a difference?

Please don't do that, that would be a big downgrade, unless you need the money.

first thing, you can not use fx on that mothebroard.

second thing, the fx8120 is much slower than your current cpu. by much i mean much.

third thing, ddr3 is much worse than ddr 4

forth thing, rx 580 is much bette than 550ti.

 

conclusion: Whjy would you upgrade to shit entry level system if you have a decent mid range system, now?

The FX 8120 is bad, it's comparable to an i3 3240 and is far worse than your current 3200G, the 550ti is also worse than the integrated graphics on the 3200G, and you also have the slower ddr3 memory. This is no upgrade, this is a downgrade.

nono, i would have swapped the mobo and cpu into my current case. and i obviously would have used my 580

no. 3200g is much ebtter than fx 8120. fx 8120 is one the worst cpus right now for anything. they are 2010 slow on the cpu.

It may have double the cores, but the architecture is from 2011. The Ryzen 3 3200G is literally almost twice as fast as the FX 8120. Even for a very low budget gaming pc there are better options. Stick with your current setup and save the money.

3200g is only 20% better? it should be 200%. anyway userbencharm is bs, never use it to compare to cpu 1 vs cpu 2. use it to compare your cpu to others with the same cpu.

As they say in the posts, the score is off.

That dosnt mean, you cant use it to compare, and see spec for spec stats.

Obviously you need som sort of source citisism.

 

 

Solution 2:

Look at UB for a vague idea of performance, but don't look at it as a definitive score.

As per cinebench r15 scores (the 8120 is that old), single core score is roughly 90 vs 155 for the 3200G. Multicore is around 580 for the FX-8120 vs 600 for the 3200G.

In multithreaded loads they look on par, but for single-core use cases like gaming the 3200G is almost twice as fast. 

In conclusion, it's not wise to "upgrade" to an FX CPU
