New to PC building

Thoffa

Budget (including currency): 1200-1400 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hi! I'm just staring to get into PC building. I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations or a direction they could point me in? I was wanting to cut back on the price a bit, but not the quality too much. This is the build I have so far : https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/custom-pc-builder.aspx?load=72dfc6bb-fbc8-4158-b0f0-daf9d834e4e1

Looks fine.

Is there anything I could substitute out to make it a little bit more affordable?

You can remove the Windows 10 license. You can easily find a license key for 5$ or less, not to mention that Windows 10 is free anyways. The RGB memory you change for cheaper, similar quality, Corsair Vengeance LPX. Additionally you should change the cpu cooler you've chosen since it's not that good. Something like a hyper 212 evo or a be quiet pure rock slim will fair much better. You could also go for a cheaper case as well.

Get a tower style cpu cooler; nh-u12, hyper 212 etc. Don't buy a 2060 for $420. 3070 is coming out in a week for $500 with 2080ti performance. Either wait for a 3070 or buy a used 2060/2070. Also there may be an amd gpu coming out next month in your price range

If you're willing to have lower max FPS's switching to a b450/550 and a 3600 could save you around $50

It will likely go out of stock in seconds or minutes, and sites may crash again. I'd have newegg and bestbuy open on your computer with all your information in your accounts for those sites. Then also use the newegg app and if you have an iphone setup apple pay because that should be like one click checkout.

I don't plan on fully purchasing everything until around Christmas time, so hopefully it's back in stock by then! fingers crossed lol

You might be okay then. By then amd's cards should be out and 3000 series cards will have been out for a couple months. If not 3070 you should be able to get a 2080 for cheap by then

Unless you prefer Intel (nothing wrong at all with that) I would advise going with a B550 motherboard and one of the new AMD CPUs that should be coming out in another month or two.
