You need RAM. Ryzen has to have dual channel and you need more than 8GB.

Get 2x8GB DDR4 3600 CL16 and you will notice a huge boost.

Yes, it's true, you (OP) just need to get 2x8GB ram (atleast 3200mhz speed) from any brand, or rgb if you prefer so, and you are set! And if possible, get a better MoBo, prefferably B550 or X570 if your budget allows it. B550 has better VRMs and its best too make your system future proof.

They would do, but I'd still recommend CL16 instead of CL18.

Brilliant thanks, is it worth putting 4 sticks in? Or is that not necessary?

I presume my slightly older mobo will be happy with them

better to have 2 sticks instead of 4, it's easier for the cpu to handle them

What about 2 X 16gb ones? They not double the price. Would I notice the difference? Sorry if these are dumb questions

if you're mainly gaming, 2x8 are enough. 32gb are useful if you do 4k video editing, multitask a lot, stream etc.

Because afterwards those ram sticks could easily be slightly overclocked. So you get higher clocks and lower CAS latency at the same time.

you can do the same with the 3600c18 kit

But I don't think lowering CAS latency manually is safe...

not judging your english at all, maybe you were unlucky with your ram overclock.

it's usually easier to get 3600c16 from a 3600c18 kit than from a 3200C16 kit.
