MacBook Pro Audio Crackling - Widespread?

My wife just got a MacBook Pro a few months ago for school and it's actually really nice (I'm not an Apple person) EXCEPT for a crackling sound it makes when watching Youtube videos on the internal speakers.

 

Some quick Googling revealed this has been happening for the last couple generations and the fixes don't work for everyone.

 

Has anyone else experienced this? It seems like this is a pretty widespread issue but never saw anything about it until dealing with it now.
