Curved vs Ultrawide

Xolin

So I am looking for a new monitor to replace my Dell P2319H (1080p | 60Hz | 8ms | 23.8") and I am trying to choose between a bunch of options for a new monitor.

IMO go for a flat 16:9 panel. That way you won't get any distortion on flat lines (curved monitors) and won't have to deal with any compatibility issues (ultrawide). I had both in the past and i eventually got back to 16:9 because i didn't want all the hassle that's coming with ultrawide. Also you can get extremely good flat 16:9 monitors like the LG 27GN850-B for the price of an entry level ultrawide like the AOC CU34G2, which will not give a comparable experience.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

It depends on what you want to do with the monitor. Are you a content creator using video/photo editing tools? Are you just gaming? Or office applications?

I've had a 2560x1080 display when they first came out from LG, it was nice to do some video editing on it, since it's so wide for the timeline.

I've used a 4K display for gaming, but as time went on and gpu's became more expensive to drive 4K games properly, I switched to 2560x1440p at 165 Hz. Currently using a curved 27" Asus TUF monitor, and for me it's the sweet spot now.

I’m looking for a new monitor for gaming and basic web browsing stuff.

The options are:

1. Samsung C32F391FW 31.5” LED VA Curved
2. LG 29WN600-W 29” LED IPS Ultrawide

3. Stay with my current Dell monitor

The main reason that I want to upgrade my monitor is size. I think the bigger the better, ain’t it?

I wouldn't go for either of them, as they only run 1080p on these sizes. You should keep saving up for a better monitor. Bigger is not always better, especially if you don't scale resolution with size.

1080p is fine for up to 24".

27"-32" is the sweetspot for 1440p.

And everything over 32" is 4K territory IMO.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

In AAA games you'd have to go to medium or low but in competetive games yes.

I really want a bigger monitor, I'm not sure I understood the problem with a 27”/29”-1080p monitor. Does it look bad?
