.exe file keeps opening in a loop

I downloaded a game trainer and Windows asked me what to open it with.  It was an .exe file.  All the other game trainers opened as they should.  So, in the 'open with' context menu, I chose the game trainer .exe file to open the .exe file.

Now, when I try to open, it just goes in a loop.  I deleted the file but it didn't change anything.  I tried deleting something in the registry, but a no go.

How do I undo my stupidity?

This should be impossible, you cannot create a file association for an executable. Are you sure the file is an executable? It may help if you can provide screenshots of the behavior.
