I'm currently looking at the LG 27GL83A-B 27 Inch Ultragear QHD IPS, would this be a good choice?

I'm also looking for recommendations too, thank you!!

1440p is more in line with a 3070 imo. A 3080 makes more sense at higher resolutions. Not a bad combo tho, just pointing that out.

4K 144Hz isn't for 3080 yet either. At least in many newer graphically heavy games, maybe in lowered settings though.

What I mean is -  it's perfect for 1440p for any game.

I think a 1440p 170hz or 240hz would be the sweet spot, but i dont know; the lg is pretty appealing

Yeah, Nano IPS is supposedly great.

By the way LG 27GL83A-B and LG 27GL850-B are basically identical.

Another model I'd consider at 1440p is - Dell Gaming S2721DGF

But thats not Nano IPS

I agree, 3080 can’t do “high refresh gaming” at 4k. But, a 3080 will be getting very very high FPS at 1440p... a 3070 will be plenty fast enough to push 140-150+ FPS at 1440p, that’s all my point is. Saving 2-300 bucks to get effectively the same performance seeing as the monitor is only 144hz, not a bad bargain. Depending on build budget as it looks like OP is looking for a zen 3 upgrade, if 1440p is the goal, OP can use that money for the cpu/mobo/ram combo OP is looking for. If there is 0 budget constraint, sure, why not.

I haven't got my 3080 yet but I am running a 27gn950 (4k 144hz). my 2080ti does 4k fine (I mostly play FPS i get 100fps in modern warfare medium/high settings and 350fps in overwatch low settings). I feel like most of the games that are "graphically demanding" most people bring up in the 4k vs 1440p argument (control, horizon, tomb raider ETC) are games that are going to benefit more from graphical fidelity than FPS in the 120-240 range, especially since these are typically non competitive AAA titles that are made to be playable on console level FPS. given the implementation of DLSS 2.0 i think there is going to be a 4k 144hz renaissance
