Exactly how many volts are you cramming down this poor soul? A cinibench run on a 240mm rad whould not get you to 85 C.

1. At 1.352 volts you could probably hit 5.00 ghz so for 4.8 its a bit excessive

2. I dunno if the temps are normal as I don't have a 240mm aio but you could try remounting the cooler and see if that helps.

Most people say that the limit for 10th gen is around 1.4 volts so you're below that and safe operating temperature are technically anything under around 100c so you're way under that.

i did the MSI Game Boost OC

I wouldn't use a mobo OC option, they are always pretty garbage since they are just throwing way more votls at your CPU than it needs. If you want to OC, take the time to read up, watch videos, read up some more, and then try it yourself. As long as you don't throw lots of volts at it you can't really hurt it.

Just read A LOT, ask some questions, and go about it slowly. What GPU and resolution are your monitor? You likely will see very, very little gains anyways. Also, a all core turbo of 4.8 is not really a benefit for a 10700k unless that retains the stock turbo operation as well. If your resolution is higher than something like 3440x1440p, a few extra MHz will make no appreciable difference anyways.

Adding to suggestions that @LIGISTX provided I recommend watching builzoid. Im pretty sure he has a video on overclocking a 10700k step by step.

  • 2 weeks later...

(UPDATE) Turns out that my cooler was mounted weirdly so I re-mounted it and it dropped down like 30 degrees F
