Gf's rig / my temp rig

slasher0161

Well new parts just arrived thought i might as well share some of the fun of it.

I will get the canon 1100d out and the tripod and set up the work station area. However first of all ill give you folks a run down of the uses of this rig. It is for the missus to do photography work on primarily and will double as my study / gaming rig while i finalize the plans for my next build and clear the back log of rigs i need to build / mod for siblings.

Specs list:
- intel xeon e3 1230 v3
- silverstone strider 500w
- gigabyte ga-h87n-wifi mini itx
- bitfenix prodigy blue (windowed)
- 8gb (2x4) g.skill ares
- evga gtx760 acx sc
- sandisk ultra plus 128gb
- 2tb seagate baracuda

Os: windows 8.1

Now time to get the work area set up and start some work. Pictures may take a while as i have to deal with terrible Australian internet (wireless too as if our hard wired stuff isnt bad enough), so i will do my best to get the pictures up in a timely manner and might throw a few shots of the old antec case i am currently working on in as well (once i mark out the cuts to be made).

Updates due in a few hours.

Due to my lovely work with making the oversight with regards to fan headers during prime 95 it got quite damn toasty so benchmarking has been put on hold until my fan splitter and additional case fans arrive (hopefully friday).

However I have managed to get the rig pictures up I will only upload large thumbnails and a link to the imgur album on here as the full res shots are a bit overkill.

More pictures to come once new fans and splitter arrive. May end up replacing the stock cooler as well.

It simply comes down to this.

I5 - 4670k $275

Xeon e3 1230 v3 $299

I7 - 4770k $399

Plus I was curious to see what these chips can do.

Nice processor choice, I've always preferred Xeons over their i5 and i7 counterparts. The blue prodigy looks amazing, if they made an mATX version I'd be so tempted to get it.

Rig is all together, I think I deserve an award for stupidity for not even considering the number of fan headers on that mobo. Ahhh well nothing some express post can't have sorted by the end of the week. I will get the shots of it up a bit later, also is there any benchmarks people would like me to run while I am testing it out for my own interest?

I've done that way too often. Fan headers are always the last thing I think of, I usually need to go back and check a few time to be sure. Could you run passmark on it? Not the most popular program, but it tests just about everything.

Yea no dramas, will add it to the list along with cine bench and some heaven for today. Game benches will come tomorrow unless I get trigger happy with the dremel on the antec project case, adding a windows + 240 rad support to a case from the days of 3.5" floppy drives. Case is just to short for a 360 in the front sadly (well rather would have to be very selective of the rads so the end tanks would fit. A monsta 240 will fit nicely however.)
