Random Idle restarts on AMD build

Go to solution Solved by lukeakascooter,

UPDATE!!! I had my PC sent back to the retailer, they pin pointed at ssd which solved the issue after replacing it with a new one. A few weeks went by with no problems until... I installed daemon tools lite. upon finishing the install, boom crashed exactly like last time. I can confirm after some research that daemon tools lite has the same issue on a lot of PCs due to the drivers it uses to emulate disc drives, after uninstalling daemon tools lite and manually uninstalling the left over drivers/devices it left behind in device manager I have had no more issues. but this explains my issues as one of the first things I installed upon building my PC was daemon tools. I cannot explain why it only happens whilst idle but I again I can confirm this was the issue!

Also its apparent that any software similar to this can cause very similar issues eg. alcohol 120, nero.etc so I recommend avoiding it completely.

thank you to all that tried to help :) and hopefully this can be spread as I never found it anywhere on the web until I discovered the issue myself. @viceice @Mark Kaine @-rascal- @dilpickle

Interesting outcome...

I've used Alcohol 120% in the past, but that was with Windows XP / Vista / 7.

Didn't notice much issues back then.

What Nero software do you use?

Only thing Nero I have is their CD / DVD burning software ... had that up until ~2017 when I stopped using a 5.25" DVD optical drive in my build.

Like I said I used daemon tools lite... I wish I had more systems to try it on. my old PC which I have now sold on was perfectly fine with it. intel 4670k, asus maximus gene M/B, gtx 680, sata ssd. maybe it could of been the fact my new ssd is a sata3 via m.2 im not sure, again id love to have the parts to test out and play with and see what daemon tools dosent like. but yeah also like previopusly stated it happens on a lot of computers but some are perfectly fine. maybe a AMD thing who knows if only I had systems to configure and play with :(

I have also some burning software on my laptop that I use to rip Playstation games basically, never had an issue with it, I guess it's maybe important that the software is actually compatible with win 10 (idk the name rn but it's the defacto most recommended software for ripping DVDs etc)

Yeah my laptop has an Intel cpu maybe that's why.
