Who makes them

for the most part its Seasonic units with some changes to the look.

are they any good? Particularly the two 850 watt ones. The strix and thor.

not compared to other units and the cost they command. they are allright, but usually you can get much nice units for the money

efficiency doesnt say how good a PSU is. it tells you the efficiency, and no more.

depends on what country you are buying from

Edit: and since ampere isnt playing nice with Prime PSUs, grabbing a thor isnt a great idea

I live in Japan. Psus are very expensive here right now. I was planning on buying the prime 850 from Seasonic. But it's going for about 600us here now. I understand about efficiency certifications. I also understand about that tier list. Right now I can get the asus thor 850 for about 250us. That sounds much better to me.

I wasn't planning on nvidia. I was planning on the big Navi, depending on it not being a complete failure.

I'm currently have a 9 year old 750 silverstone. So I think it'd time for a new one on a completely new mobo, cpu, and gpu.

https://jp.pcpartpicker.com/product/CQNgXL/enermax-revolution-df-850-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-erf850ewt

cheaper and better than Prime.

https://jp.pcpartpicker.com/product/NGCrxr/corsair-hx-platinum-850w-80-platinum-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020138-na

better than DF but slightly more costly.

so i do suggest either of these two. it uses Newegg Japan, which idk if accurate or not, but i do not have access to other retailers. if you can link one, id look through it.

Someone told me a long time ago that antec, seasonic, and silverstone were good psus

never judge a PSU by the company. all PSU companies have made crap or is making crap or is about to make crap.

judge the units themselves. those three companies have some nice stuff, but none of their stuff was the best options.

I found a deep cool psu on amazon that was a gold font power supply on that list. It is very nicely priced. How does it compare to the revolution or corsair?

https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/aw/d/B08BNQHT6W?ie=UTF8&ascsubtag=kakaku-sp-pcparts-22_B08BNQHT6W_K0001269017_e44_83b464108b0448ac8ee6bbf3879ae484e&creativeASIN=B08BNQHT6W&lc=msn&linkCode=msn&m=AN1VRQENFRJN5&tag=kakaku-subtag-22&uid=NULLGWDOCOMO

Also the revolution can be had for about 170us from Amazon, but it's currently out of stock and the corsair hxi, not the hx, I found for about 220us.

Please tell me about the deeocool psu

Seems to be listed under the "low priority units - minor issues or lack of info", but maybe someone has some personal experience.

I'm not sure what "M-2VL", but I'm guessing M is for moduler and M-2VL is under "low priority units - minor issues or lack of info". Probably not something thats been reviewed here.

The other way around, older revisions (non-Ultra) of Prime Gold 550/650W were indeed using Prime platform, newer ones are Focus based.

Sure, but 650W one is still Focus.

NOPE...

The used to be a 450W and 550W Prime that were Focus based. They were the Focus case and everything.

650W and Up were original Prime Platform.

I remember when they explained it back when it was going on.

They had to upgrade the Focus Platform to meet the Prime Standards for the Warranty etc.
