If you aren't going to buy an amp and nuts plan to use it off your Scarlett the 58x or the 599 are both good choices. As both are rather easy to drive I personally like the sound of the 58x better as it has better more natural tonality especially around the mids and treble as the 599 can get a bit slightly metallic in the treble region.  Since your in Canada it's hard to find but a pair of beyerdynamic tygrs are pretty great for these purposes as well. If you don't mind buying an amp your choices really expand to more higher end harder to drive gear even planar magnetic heaphones

im looking for a pair or headphones no mic as i have a mic. must be comfortable and good quality.

so far i have come up with hd599 from sennheiser which are $329 or k712 pro which are $799 both in canadian pricing from reputable sources.

it will be used for gaming.

i dont have a set budget just want something good and comfortable. if that means spending 799 then i guess im spending 799 if that means spending 329 then im spending 329. keep it under 1000 canadian

I would recommend the drop x sennheiser hd58x. If your primary use is gaming, you don't need something super expensive like the k712. The hd58x is actually closer to the sennheiser 600 series than it is 500 series, which makes it a great budget open back headphone, probably a better choice than the hd599.

Spend the extra money buying a decent dac/amp, like a jds atom stack or schiit magni+modi stack.

But once again I already have the stuff needed to drive a good pair of headphones I’m looking for a quality pair. Not some cheap stuff.

Are you saying that sennheisers HD58X are cheap. Are you kidding me. They sound amazing to so many people in the audiophile community. Just because they are cheap doesn't mean that they are bad.

I heard good thing about those by zeos.  Maybe you should look into them and try to find some reviews of them by other people too, the more reviews the better.  If I had the budget that's one I would consider.

The scarlett's amp is a bit weak. I know from experience and others telling me on here as it thought I was compenetnt at first thinking it can at least power a 250 ohm beyerdynamic. The 58x is better than a HD 599 and isn't cheap and will cost you probably more than the 599. The akg k712 is not worth that amount of cash max you should pay for it is like $400-$500 not $800 cause for that amount of money you can get a dt 1990 or a pair of sundaras and they are a step above the akg k712 in regards to detail retention.

Their ok at best they are an acquired taste and can sound about dark and bloated for working I don't understand zeos's impression on them personally saying they are reference cause to me they just kinda sound meh especially for the price
