Is my gpu dying?

DarthBudgie

so i have a 1660ti and i have had it for about 7 months now and its always been this way so im note sure if its a problem... i have overclocked it once or twice and havent used the overclock for more then a hour or 2 at most while i have had my card it like it has weird stutters like your playing and move then bang one huge stutter then its fine for a minute or less then does it again and even in minecraft before i had a i5 3470 and it had the same problem with the 1060 and so i changed my whole setup and its still doing it what should i do now

in games it will go from 120 to 55 then right back to 120 in no time and it kinda causes a  spike so i really dont get whats happening its happened  on 2 different pc's only thing that hasnt been changed out has been the monitor

i have a 1660 ti

ryzen 7 2700x

16gb ram 3200mhz

and a 600w psu\

and then when i load a youtube video it kinda flashes green for second barely and then stops when the video loads not sure if that means anything (on chrome)

I was getting this exact same behavior in Warzone but with a Radeon GPU. It was down to a combination of my in game settings and another setting in one of the game files.

The 120 to 55 and back to 120 thing could just be scene switching or an fps limit between menus and in-game so I wouldn't worry so much about that.

Assuming all your drivers are up to date have you tried googling optimal in game settings for your games and played about with them?

fps spike cuts out internet so does graphic glitches that being said i've actually had a similar thing. A power outage(it flickered on and off for a few minutes happened while I was asleep) seemed to have messed up my monitor. Every once in awhile it would flicker grey for like a second. Long story short I got a new monitor same issue and found out the power thing destroyed two of my display ports. Luckily i use one display port and one hdmi. So try a different display port/video out, then trying using DDU and reinstalling the game, then i'd look and see if a program is running that is stealing priority (you can use process lasso to force a game priory each time it runs which should make sure nothing is stealing it).

When you HIT the Power Limit of Nvidia GPUs up against your wattage allowance youll drop clocks rather drastically and this WALLBUMP can create stuttering at times when it gets hit in extra heavy gameplay moments or when fast tracking 180* movements when on the limits of the GPU.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
