do chinese game developers collect data?

Ali_H.

So, with everything going on with TikTok, WeChat, and Huawei, Ive notice that china controls a lot more than I thought. I also want to be careful with my data. So I was wondering if Chinese game developers collect data or install spyware/malware on my computer to report to the government?

As far as i know, chinese government only cared about their citizen behavior.

Why would they care about some random guy half way across the earth?

Facebook or Google collect your data continuously, you should be worry about this even more.

Why would they? If they were to install anything like that, they'd do it for themselves to make even more money out of you. Besides which, have you noticed that there's constantly hundreds of apps/games getting caught doing this on e.g. Google's Play Store and yet, those devs are mostly non-Chinese.

This whole Chinaman-scaremongering is kind of pointless, since it's quite literally everyone doing that stuff.

To further explain it, I know someone who works for the us government, and they are told that Chinese communication companies take data and report it to the china government. and let's say, just because of my race, I'm in interest to china. I was curious if video games are in that general category. I apologies if I offended anyone.

No one can beat the US in this regard.

What data exactly? Your name, birthday, phone numbers? Facebook has that already..

Or this kid shooting dick picks on saturday... What benefits do they have with this info?

Monitoring communications-technology and its uses is quite a different thing than spying on random individual citizens, though. There are far more interesting targets to track via e.g. this kind of data-gathering, like e.g. higher-up personnel of various big tech-corporations and government-employees. Also, this is nothing that the US-government, for example, isn't already doing themselves as well.

Well, perhaps they collect that data on behalf of other countries, countries who can't openly admit to this kind of thing and would face resistance at home if they tried to implement it.

So, instead, they grant Chinese companies access to their/our markets and allow them to hoover up all that juicy data and the Chinese then pass it on for a fee, or in exchange for something, or use it in the context of a propaganda tool, or even just use it as a good old fashioned geopolitical bargaining chip.

I'm not saying this is the case at all, I'm just saying it's a possible reason for them to be interested in "random people from another country".

Ask them how much US does the same. Or UK. Or India. Or Russia. If you ask or get info from one source only, they will give you their side. So probably not tell how much data they get/buy/demand/collect and shift full blame on those governments which may at any time be considered their worst enemies.

Its very ignorant to A) think that only one government does it, B) that your own doesn't do it, C) assume that if developer is based on somewhere, they would automatically do things for the government.
