DDR4 Laptop Ram : 16(8x2) gb 3200mhz cl20 vs 32(16x2)gb 2666mhz cl15

Hi everyone, I am a typical gamer and frames matter to me the most. I want to upgrade my system ram on my ROG strix g15. I have two options available and both are at same price.

1. Hyperx 16gb (8x2) with 3200mhz and CL20

2. Hyperx 32gb (16x2) with 2666mhz and CL15

As both of these laptop ram kits comes at almost the same price , I am confused which one to go for ?

The first one has slightly higher bandwidth but also higher latency (12.5 ns).

The second one has less bandwidth, but lower latency (11.25 ns).

Which one matters more depends a lot on the games you play. Some prefer bandwidth, some prefer latency.

If they're the same price, I'd probably go for the second one, but honestly 32 GB is overkill for most gaming. If possible, I'd try to find 16 GB with 3200 MHz (or higher) but lower latency.

their latency difference is less then 1.5 nano second so it doesnt matter that much

if it was useful give it a like :) btw if your into linux pay a visit here

I think you mean 1.25 milliseconds. We're not in nanosecond territory by a long shot

Brainfart... of course it's nanoseconds 🤦‍♂️

(millisecond = 1/1,000 second, nanosecond = 1 / 1,000,000,000 second)

sorry nano was a typo i meant milisecond

if it was useful give it a like :) btw if your into linux pay a visit here

Nah, you're right actually, latency is measured in nanoseconds, my fault >.<

well you made me confused because a generic no name sram chip has a latency of 11 ms

if it was useful give it a like :) btw if your into linux pay a visit here
