Howdy folks,

Just joined the page today, love the youtube vids.

I am building a PC for whenever I get my hands on a rtx 3080.... should I go with an AMD pcie 4 build or an Intel z490 that's pcie 4 'ready' and maybe just get a cheap temporary cpu till the 11the gen cpus come out?

P.s. are they any LGA 2066 mobos that are pcie 4 ready?

You should just wait until the new Ryzen CPUs are out if you are also waiting for the RTX 3080, you'll get a better value for your money because right now Ryzen 3000 and Intel 10 is full price at least where I live

Also, what resolution and what framerate are you going to play at and what games? If you aim at 200+fps go for Intel now, if you are also editing video or just for productivity go for Ryzen

Thanks for the reply...

No editing, just gaming 🙂I'm not too worried about fps over 200... hoping for great fps at 1440/4k up to 144.

Pcie gen 4 doesn't seem to matter for performance much at all, so I wouldn't worry about Pcie gen 4 when picked your new cpu.

Yeah i feel that. Iv'e looked at the data for existing throughput numbers.  Nvme speeds are a factor, but the real thing i was trying to future proof for was that Direct X I/O straight from ssd to graphics card skipping RAM feature i read/heard about (i might not be saying that right) LOL

Thanks for the input!

I don't see io as something to worry about. The extra bandwidth really don't matter for most users.

And rtx io is gonna be  a while, I wouldn't be suprised if you get a new gpu before rtx io becomes common on games. Its not event out yet.

Has anyone heard anything more about that ssd direct to graphics tech?

its going to be fast, when games start using it. then, it will matter what gen pcie you have, but it would probably be a year or more.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)
