can i use nvme on asus z-97k

hey I want to buy a samsung evo 970 plus 500 gb NVMe for a system im building in a month or so, there is an m.2 slot on the mobo i have (Asus Z-97K) as I read in the website, but Im wondering if its NVMe?

can I use that ssd on this mobo until I get my new mobo and move it unto there?

Yes, but it may not reach full speed. Asus advertises 2x PCIe 2.0 rather than the full 4x 3.0 for that drive.

speed/performance wise would it be worse than sata ssd for this mobo?

can I install the windows on it, would booting from it be straight forward?

and can it be hurt by being used on this mobo before going onto the one im gonna buy later?

no, it will be way way faster than Sata SSD but cant reach its full speed

and i can take it off and put it on the new mobo im gonna buy later with no problems right? wont being used in this mobo cause any problems for it?

yes no problem, but you have to install retail version of Windows in order to do that

it can be a slight problem though sometimes windows doesn't recognize the new hardware and asks you to put the installation media and the repair it...after repairing it will work fine
