The Broke Ass Gaming PC

IVIeLt

So I've sold my old 3570k/7970 gaming rig and have started planning for a new watercooled rig that will be truly one of a kind. So to keep me going in the meantime I've quite literally slapped this together with parts I've had lying around my house from old rigs I've had and a fractal r4 that a friend donated to me. The only parts I've actually brought for this were the cpu/mobo. I am concidering moving the rig into a mATX case because of the paint on the R4, But it is starting to grow on me. Specs are as follows.

A10 5800k APU- using onboard gpu

Asus F2A85-M-LE Mobo

8Gb Corsair ram (9-9-9-27, 1600Mhz, 1.65v) getting swapped out for some G.Skill 1866Mhz soon

1Tb WD blue for boot drive

2Tb WD Green for storage

Corsair VS450 builder series PSU

Fractal design r4 horrid paintjob edition

I have a cheapo Samsung DVD burner in there but the sata power connector wont actually reach from the psu so I've taken that out since taking photos and I'm painting the whole thing to go with my next rig that's still in planning.

If anybody has any recommendations for some mATX cases that have nice room for cable management and a few hdd slots could you please let me know, the plan is to recycle this rig and use it as a NAS once my new rig is up and running :D Thinking along the lines of the Fractal Define Mini, really loving Fractals case lineup at the moment!

Why would anyone do that to an r4!! :p Fractal cases are great, I'd probable go with the define mini. They are just so clean. If you like the aesthetic of the define series you might want to consider the brand new 350D.

Hi IVIeLt, nothing wrong with this rig, I bet you can surf the web, look a these forums, see the cursor in games and Frag-a-plenty with the best of us with this PC. You're the smart one for not spending $2-$3,000 on a PC... Like I did!  :)  And the blue stripes are growing on me...

I know! It's pretty shocking, but if it saves me shelling out my cash to get a new case then I can deal with it :D

I was looking at the 350D but it wont have enough 3.5 inch bays for what I want. I am looking at a 350D for my next gaming rig though, it's a neat little chassis and can cram a suprising amount of watercooling in it. Thinking a 240mm Black Ice SR1 in the front and a 240 stealth in the top!

Well the problem there is that I'm looking at spending $3000 upwards on my next gaming rig! :P

$3,000? You'll be joining my club!  Thought you were smarter than me!  If you can't be smarter than me then be more creative than me with that $3,000!  Happy Buildin'!
