How do I install my graphics thingymabob

reeeeeebbhdhsbdsbdhs

I took out the two screws and the thing in the image below came off. This has a removable plastic layer on it. Wondering what ths is for.

I tried putting the GPU in, and I did, but it was wobbly, so I took it out again. Is the thing pictured supposed to help it stand up straight?

Please dont shit on me for asking stupid questions

Thanks

Looks like a heat spreader for an M.2 drive. Nothing at all to do with the GPU.

Bad picture, though tbh.

Thats an m.2 heatsink and they have nothing to do with the graphics card. Graphics cards go into the pcie slot and it locks down then you screw it into the cases pcie slots on the back

I can't say that I'm too confident that you installed it correctly.

When you take a pic of unknown pieces like this it's best to take a pic showing the object as well as where it was removed from, either in the same pic or separate. The gpus only source of support is the screws on the metal bracket and the slots the metal brackets feet tab into. Jay says a screw into the tabs the feet stick into can really help with gpu sag...

Okay, so I put my SSD in the other slot, (the one the heatsink was made for) and put the heatsink on.

Thanks

Ah okay. I managed to get the heatsink & the SSD all in.

So that's a start. Footage of the GPU to come.

Here, the infamous wobble caught live on camera...

IMG-0108.MOV

Its wobbling because the card is not screwed into a case. when its directly on the board like that wobbling is normal because there's nothing holding it down

I believe your missing a screw on the left side of the m.2 cover that holds it down to the nvme drive

Am I? The screw i have in just goes straight through the cutout on the heatsink. Do i need to maybe install the bigger screw aswell as the one I have in, or take that one out and somehow manage to get the 1 to hold it all down?

A screw provided by the motherboard (in the box) should fit into the top of the m.2 screw to hold the heatsink down. Do not use a single screw to hold both down because doing that will bend the nvme drive and that isn't good. So the screw from the box goes into the drive and then the one that was holding the heatsink in when you got it goes on top of that
