450w With 980?

RhymeGG

Hey, I'm buying a PC with a 980, and a 4770k today as a project/resell build. It's got a 980 windforce, 4770k, 16gb ram, with a 450w 80+ gold seasonic FM series PSU, wondering if this will perform under heavy gaming. Currently i have a 2060, ryzen 5 3600 and 16gb of ram running on the same PSU, and it works fine no matter what. Curious if the older tech will still be fine on a lower wattage PSU.Thanks!

Probably ok. Wouldn't try heavy OC'ing on it

the card is about 230 watts on the high end, with the 4770k consuming about 150 with a hefty overclock, closer to 100 without. worst case scenario, that's a little under a 400 watt load, so that's cutting it pretty close when you factor in motherboard and other devices, but for normal usage, especially gaming, doubt it would ever run into problems.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Not planning on doing any overclocking, But if i do it would be minor adjustments on the GPU clocks

Cool, Thanks! Just wanted some more opinions because my 2060, ryzen 5 3600 run just fine off 450w.

Also, I went to Seasonic's wattage calculator to put in the exact specs, and it says itll draw around 436 under load. Is that still fine?

yeah, those calculators always err a bit high. I just checked the psu page, it's rated for 450w continuous output (meaning you could safely put a constant 450w load on it 24/7). So even if you have peak power draws of 436w you'd be fine.
