IOS14 Game Center annoys me. can I make it go away?

Bombastinator

Just downloaded iOS14 and whenever I try to activate a game there is a pop up for “Game Center” which is apparently either a new feature or an old feature made more obnoxious, which wants some sort of login. I’ve been canceling it, but it doesn’t take no for an answer.  I don’t know what it is.  This sort of constant pop up behavior is something I associate more with android than iOS.  I want it to stop bugging me, but I’m Leary of inputting information because there seems to be an increasing “sign your life away” aspect to such things.  At the moment I just want it to take no for an answer till if find out what it is.  Anyone know a way to do that other than simple capitulation? Or is it some security feature or other I actually want to use?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Game Center is just Apple's version of an Xbox or PS Online account. It syncs progress, achievements, friend lists, that sorta thing. Also gives you a username to be IDed by so you're not giving out your real name/apple ID email every time you play any online mobile game.

If you don't like it, just go to Settings > scroll down to Game Center > hit "Sign Out" at the bottom. That'll disable Game Center, though you can re-enable it by simply flipping the toggle if you decide you do want to use it.

Did that.  It’s still popping up.  Game Center is off in my settings but I just opened a game and got the pop up again.

Not an option that is offered that I can find. Tried it again though and it seems to be no longer doing it.

I had the same problem in the last version of iOS and that is what I did.

Just signed out of it in the settings.

They are all about hard selling the subscriptions now it seems.

The thing for me is that they don't seem to take the time to make the content highly desirable to me.

So I would actually want to pay the subscription prices.

People are weird sometimes. 🤪
