Nope. It looks blurry and strange, because the pixels don't line up nicely. Each pixel of the real 1440p display will be an approximated blend of the underlying 1080p output signal pixels. Some of the real 1440P pixels will be the color of a single 1080P output pixel while others will be a blend of 2 or 4 of the 1080p pixels.

It looks like this zoomed in. White boxes are the real 1440P pixels. Red boxes are the 1080P signal.
