Ram-Corsair Vengence RGB Pro 4x8gb 3600mgh

 

Hello, I am very new to pc’s and asking for help I just built my first one with some of the specs listed above and I’m having trouble running the 4x8GB sticks at 3600 MHz the board is rated to run that, if I run dual channel at 16 gigs I can overclock it to 3600 MHz just fine but is soon as I put the other two in it’ll boot up in the safe mode, Is my CPU not be beefy enough to run all that memory, Would it be better to run dual channel 16 gigs at 3600 MHz or quad channel 32 gigs at 2133 MHz

Zen+ CPUs dont overclock memory well, you need a newer architecture of Zen CPU to do 4 sticks 3600MHz

Cinebench R15 Single thread:168 Multi-thread: 833 

SuperPi (v1.5 from Techpowerup, PI value output) 16K: 0.100s 1M: 8.255s 32M: 7m 45.93s

running 4 sticks at 3600 on zen +'s imc is quite a bit of pressure. 

set the soc to 1.15 and dram to 1.35 and go for 2933, check stability and go for 3000 and then 3200.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad. 

 

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

 

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

what CPU would I need to run all the memory and what’s better 2x8 3600 or 4x8 2133

I mean performance wise, assuming your workload does not need more than 16 gigs, technically 2x8 will perform better, buy if you need 32 gigs, capacity will be more important.

all Zen 2 CPUs would do that, though moving to 3700x or above make more sense when you have a 2700X

You can still try higher frequencies on 4x8gb, like 3200MHz

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

another question by chance do you know if I put my base clock on my CPU to 4000 will it still fluctuate and give me more during games and less during no workload

I mean you can just overclock the cpu and let it idle at lower frequency to save power.
