Budget (including currency): Depending on gpu price, 500-700 ~ (+100-150 for sold cpu)

Country: Lithuania

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 4k 100fps gaming, all AAA games, ultra settings (high/ultra), ultrawidescreen 1440p 100+fps in ALL games and 4k at least 60 fps. Some video editing/ mby streaming, but goal is gaming.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

What is better, going for 3080 or sell my 3600 ryzen and get smth better for gaming + 3070 gpu.

Also, as new gpus will need pci 4.0, do I need to switch my MOBO as it says it support pci for 3rd gen only (so its 3.0 ye?)

They don't need it so no mobo will be needed.

I would go with the 3080 because the 3600 is still a very capable CPU.

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.

Your budget and workload don't work together.  $500-700 for 4k 100Hz Ultra AAA games?  Not happening.

Otherwise 3080 + 3600, but you will get a small boost from a 5GHz+ Intel CPU.  Just won't fit your budget.

for 4k, the 3600 is good, you won't get a performance boost from a better cpu, I'd go with the 3080 in your case.

pcie is backwards compatible, so it will work on a pcie 3 board.

okay wil see prices for 3080 then.

regarding mobo, wont I lose some bandwith if I use pci 3.0 instead of pci 4.0 capabilities?? I tho its a big deal there.

I mentioned ultra-high, and 4k can be 600-100, better if 100+ of course. my main monitor is ultrawide 1440p so main focus on it and 100fps+, but have a second monitor which is 4k, so need at least 60fps on it.

we need to wait for benchmarks and reviews, but on release nvidia stated the difference between using pcie3 and pcie4 is less than 5% and that what cpu you have would matter more.

hmm so either change cpu or mobo then ? will need to check for the tests then as my mobo handles ram speed badly and rams wont work past 2933 at all (rams tested on a different pc works fine on 3200)

I would say your current cpu, mobo and ram + 3080 will work better than ANY cpu, mobo ram + 3070.

thing is, will the mobo switch +ram speed from 2866 > 3200/3600 give me anything good? (like 5% from pci 4.0 + smth from ram speed)

probably yes, but if that means getting a 3070 instead o a 3080, it's not worth it, since the difference between 3070 and 3080 is more than 5-10%

no I will go with 3080, will sell my 1080ti for around 300 + add 400 then (or more) for 3080. 400 is alot already, I wouldnt get alot from selling mobo so new mobo under 100 would be difficult to find smth decent with pci4.0 (b550) any ideas?
