Graphics card temperature increased

Greetings LinusTechTip community, I own a Gigabyte RTX 2080 Gaming OC of which is the apparent coolest non-liquid RTX 2080 available. Upon purchase and use of this card, I noted down temperatures of 70-75c regardless of length of load. The fans were spinning at roughly 1,600 RPM. Nowadays however, my graphics card runs at 70-85c with the fans at 2,500 RPM.... It is not summer where I live, so that is not the cause nor is dust build up as I have checked. Could the thermal paste require replacing already? The graphics card is two years of age nearly.

It's possible, they are meant to last as long as the warranty but usually they don't

Would definitely try replacing the thermal paste with something better.

 

Imo the gaming oc or any cards with the  windforce cooler cards aren't the best for cooling. For example the ftw3 cooler runs high 50s overclocked with a 2080ti, and the xc black stays under 70.

Sounds like something is drying it out way to fast o.o Is it getting proper contact?

It could use a repasting but honestly just sounds like you may have updated a few drivers and slightly changed the performance and depends on the game and usage.

Screws aren't as tight as I would like them to, but they are pretty dry, hard and thin with proper contact.

there was a thread complaining about gigabyte 20 series gpu's paste not long ago (think ytd?)

a few people had issues with their GPU, different models too

 

both of them solved their own by repasting, mine had to be RMA-ed, because repasting didnt fix it

Might want to try a different paste then. PK-3 doesn't dry out in 3 years at least. (I have a laptop with it, so this isn't just marketing)

The one that dried is the factory paste, my stuff works fine

Ah, yeah laptop manufacturers rarely use anything that will prolong the life of the device. It was probably sitting in a warehouse for a year or two before you bought it.
