Worst Thunderstorm

Okay guys,

I'm having a big ole bang and spark at home at the moment and it got me thinking, what is the worst thunderstorm that you have had at your home?

It'll be interesting to read your replies.

Accidental double post worst at my home ended up being 2 tornados. I live in a wooded-area, a lot of forests, so many leaves in the sky that even though it was noon, I couldnt see the sky.

Well hurricane "Wilma" spent almost three days on top of my city, Cancun, Mexico. It was a really strong storm as you would imagine... Category 5 hurricane. Worst of all it arrived on my birthday, October 20th, true story.

When a tornado hit down the street and we were completely unprepared for it. There was no forecast and we were completely surprised. 

 

*edit* It was a micro burst not a tornado. The difference is that a micro burst doesn't touch the ground and a tornado does. It caused a ton of damage. I live in a suburb outside of Denver called Wheat Ridge, it took the worst of the damage.

During the monsoon when i was a kid we were without power for 2~ days and it rained for about a week and we got around 5" of rain which is unheard of. Schools were cancelled and we had to go around the house by candle and flashlight. It was so cloudy it looked like night time 24/7. It was terrifying for 6 year old me and my dog. and worst part was that we couldnt even play outside. my sister tried and came back with a huge bruise from how hard it was raining.

Don't live there, but a few 100 miles east. A tornado 1.5 mi away from me wrecked "a-lot".

Storms in the UK are pretty tame compared to that, but the worst I had was lightning hitting a tree about 30 metres away from my house. I legged it back inside as soon as I saw! And another time I was walking home from school in a horrible thunderstorm, rain was pouring down and I was all alone... In a field... With lightning... So I ran as fast as I could out of the field and into the street. I swear I almost got hit by it, if I would have stayed in the field.
