Personally I would not recommend a 2.1 or 5.1 setup in that price range.

I am using a pair of Logitech X-140's for my desktop and they are quite good for the price (They used to retail for more, but looks like the price has dropped). They are loud enough to fill a small bedroom for movies and music, and the clarity and quality will be better then a 2.1 or 5.1 setup of similar price.

Honestly I would suggest buying the shittiest, cheapest speakers you can stand right now, and THEN save up for some kickass speakers and/or headphones. I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 598's and Beyerdynamic MMX10 earbuds for when I need/want high quality.

i dont know what i was thinking. i completely spaced that i would need some speakers. that probably what i will do. Im not an audio freak so i dont think they will bother me that much. as long as they dont crackle and hiss ill be fine.
