yea i havnt owned a amd computer in about 8 years. but why should i give amd another chance? from what i hear they still have stability issues in regards to bios updates, ram compatibility, riser cards not working for pci-e gen 4, not to mention i see many people complain about amd customer service still. so it doesnt seem like they have changed they just make a faster product than before. woop woop

Does anyone know when the 11th hen 11700k will be coming out from intel I see some cpus have been released for 11th gen i am building a new pc over the next few months and have the chance for a great mobo asus tug z490 plus wifi but I will wait for 11th gen if it’s less than 6 months away

There's no word on a release date for Rocket Lake-S yet officially from Intel.

Tiger Lake, or the 11th gen you're talking about, is mobile only at the moment.

The 11th gen CPUs that released were mobile chips. We don't have any leaks, let alone an official statement from Intel.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

There's been no official roadmap that I'm aware of from Intel for desktop CPUs other than 10nm Alder Lake at the end of 2021. That'll probably be 12th gen though, with 11th gen Rocket Lake still simmering in the usual rumour sites as possibly coming out end of this year, or early next. I find it a bit of a tight gap between 10th gen Comet Lake and Alder Lake assuming the latter is not late.

If Rocket Lake happens, it is expected to be a 14nm backport of Willow Cove, based on the same core as used in the recent Tiger Lake announcement. Emphasis would be "based on" since we don't know if they will have to cut some areas to make it work on 14nm as opposed to 10nm. It may not be as feature complete due to that.

That's not really a great strategy for a whole system, if anything the ram and case right now is a good idea but everything else you should wait just a bit for, to see competition. 4000 series ryzen is due to be a major competitor and we don't know how impressive AMD's GPUs will be, but either way I don't recommend a CPU or GPU purchase as of now, if you can wait a couple months

It is always hard to tell. How much do you need a PC right now, vs waiting? I'd advise against buying piece by piece if you can't use it, as it'll only depreciate and be at risk of being succeeded. Also consider Zen 3 unless you really have to have Intel.

when exactly? and what horrible experiences? because no offense, for all we know, it could be a user error and not the company's.

Bios update issues existed very briefly with certain X570 boards, that's it. Ram compatibility is not having issues. Riser cards on a new technology? Sure that's bound to be some issue, but do you need a riser card? At least you get the option for PCIe 4.0, or you can set the slot to 3.0 and not worry about it. Customer service will always be complained about, same as Intel. There's not really a quality difference between the two.

Trust me if you already didn't like the company it's a lot easier to see the negative. Plenty of Intel haters could list the exact things you did as a reason not to buy Intel. I've had plenty of BIOS update problems, ram compatibility problems, customer support headaches, and that was before ryzen got big.

A possible problem of buying a mobo now is that the bios will be too old to support next gen CPUs, so you'd have extra work to do. If the mobo allows flashing without normally booting for example, or you can get access to another compatible old CPU temporarily to upgrade bios. Be careful it doesn't become a false saving.

excatly im not saying intel is perfect heck no. but i havnt had to many issues (ive had some) but they were worked through easily. im satisfied with the service and performance than intel gives me and i still have a very bad taste in my mouth from my experience with amd. anyways this post was not intended to be a debate about whos better. it was about whether anyone heard any info on the 11th gen 11700k and whether or not i should hold off and not buy a mobo right now. like i said my build is planned to be finished end of february. i really need a pc as i cannot game right now at all.
