Hello everyone, i messed up big time i think. And im in full panic mode. 

I got the DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error. And i followed a guide on how to use CMD to get things back up and running. But maybe because im not in control of the router etc. I cant do anything. And it feels like all i did is fck it up more because now i cant connect to anything and im freaking out. 

 

Please help.

Just set the ethernet connection DNS to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8

Settings > network connections > Network and sharing center > change adapter settings

Right click on the adapter > properties > double click on the IPv4

It was the command "netsh winsock reset" that caused it. But that's ok, because you're supposed to reboot your computer after running that command. Your network adapter should pull from DHCP again an IP and list of DNS servers within the DHCP scope. Basically, you'll get back to normal again.

 

Other then that, yeah, no harm in running those command.

 

By the way, don't reset the winsock unless you're having to troubleshoot the TCP/IP stack or other networking issues involved with NIC hardware, Anti-virus, VPN apps, or software based firewall programs that you suspect to be causing internet connectivity issues. Sometimes this will break the apps ability to work wit the NIC and you might have to reinstall the aforementioned to get it linked to the IP stack again. Just a fair bit of warming..
