I do most of the computer sales at my walmart (I know I know Wal-mart) and I was asked today by a friend if I can build him a PC. I have my own PC and want to start my own computer building PC so of course I said yes. He wants to stay under 1000 dollars (USD) and I came up with this PCPartpicker list. Is it pretty good? Any recommendations? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/parker_133/saved/8BjGLk

I definitely recommend having an SSD of any kind, since it makes a massive difference in the speed and responsiveness. You can almost squeeze in an RTX 2070 for your budget, and save a little money on the motherboard to improve the power supply. You could also go for an RX 5700.

edit: here's the parts list I had in mind

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I was definitely thinking about the RTX 2070, I just threw the 2060 in there because that's what he said he'd like but I'll definitely talk to him about upgrading. Also thank you for the recommendation on the SSD!

when it comes to the 2070 vs 2060 super, the extra $20 spending would be well worth it, but to save money overall, one of these is highly suggested

very near in performance to a 2070 for a pretty large savings.

It doesn't, the 5700XT Nitro+ SE, which is overclocked to slightly more than 2GHz and also have it's memory overclocked out of the box, still is slightly slower on average than the FE 2070 Super, if you compare it to OC'd models of the 2070 Super the difference stays around the same ~10% as when comparing the reference of both.

Basically you can overclock the 2070 Super as well as the 5700XT, in the end the difference doesn't really change.

On-topic: The 5700 is probably the best deal out of those like said above. On the 2060 Super vs 2070 option, I personally would go with a good cooler on the 2060 Super vs the cheapest 2070 if I was the one making the choice, but that is because I consider the quieter cooler more important than the small performance boost, the choice for me would be between saving money on a cheap 2060 or going for a good cooler.

My 5700 flashed to a 5700xt will destroy most 2070 supers, except the most golden chips

Maybe, if it is overclocked to 2,3GHz, that would probably put it around 8% ahead of the stock 2070 Super, but as far as I can find the max OC of the 2070 Super nets around 8%+ more performance over stock, which would mean that both are about the same, and in no way the 2070 Super is getting destroyed. But this all is considering the unrealistic 2,3GHz OC, but most 5700XT will max out closer to 2,1GHz, which isn't faster than the stock 2070 Super.

I’ll lol you my 3dmark timespy when I get home, but it shrecks most 2070 supers, and it isn’t even that high of a score for a  5700xt because it’s flashed
