Low End Graphics Card For My Brother

Monti

Hello everyone. I don't know if this is in the right section but on to my question. My brother likes to play minecraft and also likes to record it for his friends (I don't understand why). Right now he uses a laptop with a AMD a6 and 4 gb of RAM and he can't get good frames when doing his recording. I have a old desktop with a Intel Pentium d and 4gbs of RAM. But it doesn't have a graphics card. He will be playing on a 1280x1024 and he has about 75 USD to spend. So what could he possibly buy that could run the game well when recording or would it be better so stay with the laptop? Any retailer is good. Thanks for any help.

Also is a Pentium D capable of recording at the same time as playing?

Since when was Minecraft GPU dependent?

The GTX 750 would be good for the fact that it records through the GPU itself with about a 10% performance hit (if not less). I'm completely unsure if ShadowPlay can record Minecraft or not.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Going to a Pentium D will be a downgrade from even a mobile A6. So this will likely not work given Minecraft is not really GPU dependant. It doesn't take much on either CPU or GPU, but the recording likely creates a lot of overhead on the CPU,

...

Also is a Pentium D capable of recording at the same time as playing?

I am thinking this might be a problem too. Would likely need an external device.

Edit: Since the CPU might be a problem, you could get a card that supports video capture through the GPU, or get an external device, or if you still any to give it a try without resorting to the above, then just get any video card, as the specs are not all that demanding (the results may not be positive).

Ya since you all think there may be a bottle neck. Should I look around for a cheap motherboard and CPU combo? my motherboard doesn't support any other CPUs (Gigabyte Ga-8I945P-G) besides a Celeron and other Pentiums. I guess I could sell what I have now and see if there is something on ebay or at a goodwill. If you have any other ideas please tell.

My son plays minecraft great on his A8-6600K, which has an equivalent GPU to an HD6670. Though a 6670 would perform better. They range around the $75 price.

The lowest I can even think about is a 6570. GTA: San Andreas @ 1024x768 at nearly maxed, steady framerates, and Portal at 1080p completely maxed, with 2XMSAA. Not bad, just don't get the HIS one I did. Loud POS. Double the budget and get a 750Ti.

best bet is to just buy a used graphics card on Craigslist, ebay, or classifieds on LTT.

What about a r7 250 but I like the idea of a 66xx series of cards. I will look around for one
