No modular cables are compatible between brands. They may use the same connectors on each side, but they may be wired differently at the PSU end.

Well that's not completely true. Phanteks, ASUS, XFX, NZXT, and Seasonic are different "brands" but Seasonic manufactures the PSUs for all on them and all cables are compatible (at least, all of the newer Seasonic PSUs, like Prime, Focus, Focus Plus, X, G, and Core series). So not different brands, but different manufacturers. You can use CableMod's website for compatibility. If your PSU isn't listed, it's probably proprietary, like the Fractal Design Ion+.

Does anyone know if the pinout on a Phanteks Revolt X is the same as a Corsair RM750x? I'm building my mom a PC for Christmas and upgrading my system in the process. I have the RM750x white and would like to keep the cables since the white ones would clash with her case. But if not, then I'll just get her some extensions. Thank ya'll in advance.

No they are not. The Revolt X uses the same cables as Seasonic PSUs and not Corsairs. Just get extensions.

@jonnyGURU

Could help.

He will also need to know how old the PSU is as the newer RMX are TYPE 4....

Likely the answer is no.... But ask anyway.

Could check for Cable Mod cable kit for the PSU....

extensions are super cheap, wouldnt risk mixing up cables. some rebadged psus will use the same cables as the originals, like asus with seasonic and that sorta thing. but there arent a lot of those pairings.

Extensions aren't normally the best idea.. More connection points to fail and more cable to deal with. They double the points of possible issues.....

Better to get a full cable kit instead.
