I have a pc with similar specs, but with a asrock b450m steel legend, but also with a r5 3600.

Whilst waiting for his cpu to arrive, I put my r5 3600 in his board an my gpu to load up windows onto his ssd an to make sure that all the other parts were not DOA. Everything worked absolutely fine, with no problems.

When the cpu arrives, the cpu wasn't flush with the side compartment of the box (you know where you can see the chip) this raised some red flags for me. So I put the chip into my mobo, it worked fine for about 10 minutes, until I got CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT Bsod. I tried clearing CMOS, restarting a couple times, I actually got into windows once or twice but after a few minutes I would get the same BSOD.

I then decided to put the chip into my friends mobo (using my gpu as my friend hadn't bought one yet) an it this time wouldn't post. I didn't even get a post.

Since then I have sent the retailor a request for a return, which they have accepted (meaning that I will post it to them they will test it out an if it is detirmined that it is faulty they will send me a new one/give me a refund). Is there anything else I should try prior to sending them the chip?

Thanks for the help.

belive that bsod comes from SSD/HDD's

whenever i get a bsod i just let my pc BSOD loop and it work after a little bit, then i check for driver updates and if any exist i update em and if not i just go back to playing.

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

The isue is, when the bsod occurred I tried to get back into windows (on the system that would even get passed post), within 1 minute of logging into windows (if it would make it that far) the BSOD would occur.

this probably isn't the best solution.

but how many times did you just turn on the pc again after the bsod.

and did you try turning off the psu for 10 sec and then turning the computer on again.

no idea why but this always fixes any bsod i have for atleast 3-9 months

On the machine which it was having a BSOD, I tried it quite a few times. Like I'm not sure exactly becuase this was a few days ago already, but like enough times where it could easily be considered "Ok something is going on here, I need to change something".

Yeah I turned the PSU off, an I cleared bios when I got into it, however I didn't full the battery to clear cmos..
