7600k+ maximus hero IX, looking to move to ryzen, i can get the 16gb stick cheaper than 2*8 kit, so i think i could sell my 2*8 and buy 2 kits of 16.

that system is dul channel only, no quad channel support.

 

Normally have equal sticks is better for speed. One other options is to go 2x8 and 2x16. But there probably won't be a huge performance hit.
