So i dont know much about hard drives but I have a bad 80gb Seagate SATA II i think hard drive and its realllyyy slow and I cant even run windows on it properly. So what kind of hard drive should I buy, and what is the difference beetwen Sata II and Sata III and which one should I go for. Also I wanted to buy Western Digital or Toshiba idk if they are good

Here are the prices i found

A used Seagate hdd 500GB 6.0GBPS 10€

A used Western Digital 500GB 6.0GBPS 12€

Used Toshiba 500GB 6.0GBPS 10€

I'd check rpm for those hdds,   7200 rpm is preferable.  Otherwise I really like Toshiba so I'd go with this (have replaced my 2TB Seagate with a 4TB Toshiba and it's more silent and cooler in operation for example)

If you need the storage and don't have much money I'd definitely not get a ssd, their performance gains (for games at least) are vastly over exaggerated in my opinion and experience.

I want to order it online, will it get damaged? Which one can withstand the most force and not get damaged because I live in bosnia and its all hills and the roads can be bumpy somewhere

don't replace an old dying hard drive with a used hard drive. The risk of faulty quality and no warranty to back you up is just not worth it. Save some money to double your budget, and purchase a new 120GB hard drive.

Italy is the closest place I could think of to Bosnia on pcpartpicker, I hope this price is relevant to you

with an SSD, bumping won't cause physical problems.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I don't think there's big differences between those and depends on how it's packaged mostly.

Seeing those are comparatively really cheap I'm afraid you have to take the risk - or go indeed with a ssd which isn't as fragile as standard drives,  but significantly more expensive.

The difference between SATA 2 and SATA 3 is that SATA 2 is limited to maximum ~270 MB/s  and SATA 3 is limited to 560 MB/s

SATA 3 devices can use some extra "features" like NCQ for example ... but they're optional, a sata 3 drive will work in a motherboard that only knows SATA2 and just not use these extra commands.

A cheap old 500 GB mechanical drive will peak at maybe 120-150 MB/s so it really won't matter.

It would be better to just buy a 64 or 120-128 GB SSD. It will run around a mechanical drive and they're not expensive... you should be able to find a 64 GB SSD on eBay for less than 20 euro.

There's a lot of mSATA SSDs sold, as they're taken from old laptops .. a cheap SATA to mSATA adapter will get you going.

example 14$ for new innoDisk 64 GB mSATA New InnoDisk mSATA 64GB SSD DEMSR-64GD72SCAQN-B035 mSata FullSize 64Gb SSD Drive | eBay

13$ : Silicon Power 64GB SSD mSATA SP064GBSSDJ5NMFFDM | eBay

sata ssd for 20$ : Kingston 64GB SSD Now 2.5" Laptop Solid State Drive SSD HP DELL LENOVO | eBay

sata <-> msata adapter boards (with more than 800 and 2400 units sold) :

mSATA SSD to 2.5'' SATA 6.0 Gps Adapter Converter Card Module Board Pad Pcie New | eBay

mSATA SSD to SATA Adapter Converter Card Module Board | eBay

Yes, of course but what's the point if you end up with ~ 64 "fast" GB opposed to 500GB,  on a tight budget like this it's almost always better to choose the bigger storage, especially if it's the only storage you'll have.  And again, a ssd is faster but for normal usage like gaming etc the advantages on average aren't that big,  faster load times,  that's about it...

The site and the company that I am ordering from is in Bosnia, and there is sort of a warranty, If i get a broken hard drive, or I test it myself and it does not work properly I can return it with no problems what so ever

trueeeee. Exactly my point, tbh I dont want my PC to be hyper fast like sonic Im not that much of a sociopath that I cannot wait 2 seconds, I just want a drive that I can download a lot of games on and play them with no problems.

Just get the Toshiba at this point honestly, they're arguably the most reliable ones out there and a small ssd won't help you any if you can't even install Windows on it.

OP didn't mention space concerns in the first post, but:
