Is there any use to the 'be quiet! Dark Power Pro 11''s Overclock Key?

WillNelson

Hello everyone! My power supply, a 650W Dark Power Pro, includes an "OCK" (Overclock) jumper and slot cover. I was wondering though... is there any use to this at all? It seems unlikely that be quiet! would include something unnecessary in there power supply, but I can't seem to find a logical reason for this.

All answers appreciated,

WillNelson (CATboardBETA)

It's just like the OCP switch on the Corsair HX.  It enables/disables the multiple +12V rails.

This is only my first build, what is the purpose of tying them?

Oh boy...

So you already have the PSU?

Then just leave the OCK key out and put it in a safe place so you don't lose it.

Just leave it out then, if it's a new build I'm assuming you won't be using a Vega 64, 1080Ti or multiple GPUs, so you shouldn't even have to worry about it.

By default the DPP 11 ships in multi-rail, which, in basic terms, adds more OCP (over current protection) points to further prevent any sort of potential catastrophic failures (burned/melted connectors or components).
