Just whatched this video and it reminded me about video of Seasonic Connect. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XH_ItFEycHo )

Curious about why manufacturers didn't go more that way instead of "Intel's" make of new sandard? What are Your thoughts of this? 
Btw, maybe in the near future there will be one gigantic PSU under the desk who allows to charge phones, PC together with laptops, lighting etc..? 😁
 

P.S. Didn't see discussion about that but correct me if I missed.

Seasonic probably owns that standard. And having slightly shorter cables isn't worth the hassle of installing this massive brick into your system.

No.  Because Ultra did the same thing about 10+ years ago.

Because it solves a different problem.   

 

The PSU still does DC to DC for +3.3V and +5V.  All the "Connect" is doing is replacing a "clump" of cables to a PCB.
