Cpu running at 100 degrees all the time

Okay major help needed!!

 

Issue: i5-6600k (1151 chipset) since last night started running at 60 degrees and then keeps going up to 100! Even when just in bios no windows running! I think what triggered it is that I had gone into the bios and turned off the Intel Turbo Boost Technology because I didn't want my cpu running at 3.9Ghz all the time - but even after I turned the trubo boost back to Auto it's still having this issue!

 

Relevant Specs (system age 3-4 years):

Gigabyte Z170UD3 motherboard (1151 chipset)

Intel i5-6600k

Corsair H80i v2 cooler

 

I'm thinking either something voltage related is triggering my cpu to go bananaz or my cooler pump has failed (although the corsair led light on it is still on and the fan is running and the tube going from cpu to heatsink is warm I'm assuming taking hot temp away) or the contact between the pump head and cpu surface was somehow jeopardized.

This is not the issue.

Load optimized defaults in your BIOS to rule out any BIOS issues.

 

After that, you'll need to take a closer look at your pump, mounting pressure, thermal compound etc.

 

You should not run your CPU in this state. You may damage it by running it so hot.

Either your pump is dead/dying, or your thermal paste has somehow weirdly gone horribly bad. I'm definitely more inclined to say that it's the former in your case, if you had normal temps prior to this.

Check Corsair iCue to see what RPM the fan pump is reporting. Feel the pump (the CPU block) to see if you can feel some light vibration of the pump running.

 

If you've changed settings in the BIOS make sure the fan header that the AIO pump is plugged in to is set to run at 100% speed in the BIOS.

This sounds like a dead AiO pump. Any watercooler without flow will instantly overheat your components.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

I'll put $20 on the pump being dead. Age of the system seems right knowing Corsair's failure rate.
