CPU running hot

Hey y'all. I've got a question. I've got a I5 4670K overclocked to 4,6 Ghz. Now I installed fresh thermal paste about 4-5 months ago and the temperatures were fine. They were around 40 degrees idle and 75 max under full load. Suddenly it's running super hot. Around 60 degrees idle and 100 degrees under full load. I was wondering whether that has to do with the high weather temperatures in The Netherlands or should I do another round of thermal paste?

Also yes ambient will affect thermals especially when they're that high. 

You can try re pasting and re seating the cooler as well.

Unless your ambient temps now are 20-25C hotter than they were 4-5 months ago, there is something wrong.

Unless your ambient temps went up by 25C (which I doubt), then that's not exactly normal.

 

What thermal paste did you use, and how old was it at the time? Another possible culprit would be the TIM underneath the IHS, since Haswell CPUs like your 4670K used a horrible paste underneath the IHS - maybe that's gone bad. Have you checked your cooler for dead/damaged fans/pump?

if your cooler is an AIO, it could be failing

 

also 25c difference between winter and summer wouldnt be too surprising

I used a local product, but it is one of the cheaper ones. I bought a new aftermarket cooler and everything there seems to be working fine

Well then it could very well be the thermal paste. 

Use a quality paste like an mx 4 or an nh-h2/1 and re seat the cooler.
