Rate My Planned Build

Rachg05

Is this considered a good build for gaming? I plan to play COD, CS:GO, GTA V, Overwatch etc. Is there anything I should change? I already have an aftermarket cpu fan, a monitor, and all other peripherals.

if it's for gaming,

i would drop the cpu down to a 3600

get a 2TB HDD instead of 1TB SSD, though 1TB SSD is fine anyways

not use that case because the airflow is horrible, how about the meshify C?

and up the GPU to maybe a 2070 super from the money saved from the CPU perhaps

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

He could really get rid of both SSDs, switch to the 1TB P1, and get a 2TB WD Blue for $17 more.

cheap and easy cable management is my fetish.

My budget is $1,500, so I have a bit of wiggle room. Would you still recommend dropping the CPU and increasing GPU? or would the build be "better" if I get the 3700x + 2070 super ?

Unless you are doing some really CPU intensive work, a 3600 isn't going to be a bottle cap on gaming.

the 3700x is not much different from the 3600 when it comes to gaming (at least the list of games u provided)

but having more core is fine

i would use the extra budget to bump up the gpu instead, but depends on what resolution and fps you're pushing because 2070 super is enough for 1080p

looks fine on 2070 super (7:45 for 1080p)

Spoiler

you could consider both 2080 super and 3700x, that's also an option

but if you're buying that high end, i recommend waiting for 1 or 2 months, new hardware will probably be on the market then

I like this. The only thing I would change would be to bump up to at least a 650w PSU. Cutting it a bit close with 500w and if he ever upgraded his CPU to something a bit more power hungry that thing would be hurting.

small clock speed difference, doesn't matter since you can oc anyway.

I have no doubt this would work just fine in it's current configuration.

But without knowing what upgrades they might do down the line, I like to leave a bit more headroom.

That's my personal recommendation. I just like to leave a bit more headroom so you don't risk needing to replace it down the line if you do some major upgrades. You have the budget, so I would personally.

I'm not the person to ask and a lot depends on what's in stock at the time of purchase. I like to consult this thread.
