So here's the deal:
I bought a laptop (Dell Inspiron 7000 13-inch) about a year and a half ago and the battery is beginning to give out on me. What was supposed to be an advertised 4 hours of battery life is now ~50 minutes, and with the semester right around the corner, I need to replace it.

I know there are replacements, out there on Amazon, eBay, etc. but I want to know what do I specifically need to look for. All I can only find is 38Wh and 42Wh, but my current one is 36Wh. Would those be compatible?

Thanks in advance for the help!

What matters is the voltage and the shape of the battery, not the capacity. The capacity does not tell whether it is or isn't compatible. Since you didn't provide any other information, there is literally no way of telling if they are or are not compatible.

Hand, n. A singular instrument worn at the end of the human arm and commonly thrust into somebody’s pocket.
