Broken amazon links

Kilrah

It seems every time I post an amazon link to a product as a suggestion to someone the forum replaces the direct link to the product with a search for the name of the product (and an LTT tag at the end), which usually doesn't even contain the product in question, super frustrating.

For example

https://www.amazon.com/ARC-to-Analog-Audio-Converter/dp/B00ZJPTKH0

Which is the intended product, but gets turned to

https://www.amazon.de/s?k=ARC+to+Analog+Audio+Converter&linkCode=gs3&tag=linustechti02-21&ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_KuDlFbKQXGFBZ

which is entirely unhelpful.

Huh, that seems to be a recent Amazon break actually. The URL in the post is just the same except we add the LTT tag, but it seems that Amazon tries to be smart and redirect the user to their local site, which ends up redirecting to a search. I'll see what I can do about that, or discuss with LMG about disabling the Amazon Affiliate code injection.

  • 3 weeks later...

I have turned off the code that was adding the affiliate tag, so new links shouldn't have that behaviour now.
