Last night while I slept my desktop shut down and when I saw it this morning the cpu fans were spinning at 100% and I turned on my monitor it was blank.

The power/reset buttons do nothing so I hit the main PSU switch and cleared the CMOS and powered it back on and it was just like it was. The CPU fans on full and the gpu fans on normal. The RGB of the MB and RAM was working but the RGB for the CPU was not on. I tried reseating the memory as well as gpu with no change in the issue.

Also tried using only one stich of ram but that didn't do anything either.

I have an Asus Prime X470 pro

32GB g skill trident Z

Ryzen 7 2700x

AMD RX 480 8gb video card

Samsung Evo NVME 500gb

Running win 10 x64

Both gpu and CPU are water-cooled on separate loops with EK blocks and rads.

Do you have a spare air cooled GPU you could fit in a lower slot? Unplugging power from the water-cooled GPU should be sufficient for testing purposes.

Yes, sorry I forgot to mention that. I plugged in a MSI RX570 8gb and still no change.

I think my MB or CPU could've just randomly died overnight but I dono how to test those as I don't have spares lying around for either. But they are only like a little over a year old.

if there was a certain part that you think was malfunctioning, or if you have a prebuilt, try hitting up customer support. also, for future pc builds, if you buy from NZXT, they have great customer support.

Nope I always build my own computer's 🤷‍♂️

I had a small BIOS overclock to like 3.8 but nothing crazy, I kept forgetting to get around to getting it more intense. I also cut the power pulled the battery and cleared the CMOS so the OC should be gone anyway.

Yeah, many people have complained about your motherboard not really being well designed for overclocking. The dude in the video below went on a rant about the complete lack of features that would have made it overclock friendly. It caused quite a few people all sorts of problems similar to yours because of it. I would try reverting your CPU to stock value and see if that works. If it does, you might want to upgrade to a better motherboard if you want to overclock.

Oh, shit, well, like I said, I would try replacing the motherboard for the hell of it. You have nothing to lose at this point. 🤷‍♂️
