660p vs 860 evo

So 660p is faster but I've heard its write speeds take a major dip once the drive is to full? Wondering how much storage does a 1tb 660p actually have then before it basically breaks? And does this mean the sata ssds are better because they can store more without massive drops in write speeds? What's the max data you can put on an 1tb 860 evo before it starts shitting out?

It's not about SATA vs NVMe. It's about the NAND the 660p uses vs the 860's.

That said, the QLC dropoff varies a bit but can happen as soon as 50% full.  The 860 doesn't start shitting out, whatever that even means.  It's a solid world class drive for a reason.

So you recommend the 860 over these m2 drives like the 660p?

If you use significantly more than 800GB, large file transfers will take longer.

The drive has an endurance rating of 200TB written to the drive.

Depends on what performance you find more important in the drive.

600TB written to the drive.

 

It's just that it has DRAM cache, meaning it won't take as hard in performance once you use more of its space.

I have 2 860's but I would recommend some of the lesser expensive but same NAND types.  

 

Any DRAM TLC ssd will perform similarly, the 860 isn't a good bang/buck drive.

 

Do you have NVMe slots on your motherboard or do you need the 2.5" SATA interface?

I have A B550 which has M2 NVME was gonna go with the 660p until I heard It Sucks.
