The handwriting translation sounds like the hard one.  That’s generally an OS thing and varies by how much a given person’s handwriting gets along with the software.  3 options:  android, windows, or iOS.  May also vary a lot by language, so a bunch of unknowns.  Finding an OS preference may be step one.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Outside chance there’s some third party software that does a better job in a given situation, but handwriting recognition is one of those really hard expensive to solve problems that OS writers like.

Fellow german here, i used it for digital handwriting for a year.

iPad > All.

Performance, consistent Battery Life, App quality is unparalleled.

App Quality here: there are a bunch of very high quality apps with different pros/cons, while there is much less in Android, or Windows (which basicly has only OneNote, maybe Nebo).
Main example: Goodnotes 5, and Notability. (Paperless X channel on Youtube did an indepth comparison between those 2.

I highly recommend going for an iPad (In 2 months, new iPads will probably be launched) because of that.

For some things, there are workarounds like File management etc. But they are worth it for the better experience.

And you won't want to write your bachelor thesis on it.
