New Upcoming AMD CPU

Hey all,

Many are awate for the new AMD CPU line, which supposed to come out at September, but with the COvid-19 might not happen at time.

My question is what line we talking about?

Every one saying Zen3 or 4000 seria.
so which is it, and what its all about?

Is this is what its all about ? Or maybe I missing a content

I am first at using AMD CPU, and as I am plnaning to buy one, I would appreciate if anyone could elaborate for me all of comotion of upcoming CPU line.

To decide should I wait for them or not, and just to buy 3700x or 3900x.

As my curent Setup is failing thx to not updated MB bios combined with Windows 10 Updates,

Thank you.

Theres arent the same as the new Zen 3 / Ryzen 4000 that everyone is expecting, that list of cpus are for system builders only (dell, hp etc)

This video explains it well

CPU: i5-4690k @ 4.4 GHz | RAM: 12GB DDR3 1333MHz | GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 580 4GB

Both. 4000 series is the product series, they are 4th gen Ryzen CPUs so they will be the 4000 series. Zen3 is the microarchitecture that the 4000 series CPUs will use.

AMD SKUs with a "G" are APUs, i.e. CPU + iGPU. Since they first appeared in the 2000-series, they are always one architecture behind the CPU-only chips in that series.

I tried to compile the information into a table. The one everyone is waiting for is the desktop Ryzen 4000 CPU series, since that is supposed to use Zen 3 architecture. Mobile CPUs and APUs lag a generation behind, despite using the same number as the next gen CPUs.

| Series | Suffix | Type | Architecture | Comment |
|--------|---------------|----------|--------------|----------------------------|
| 1000 | <none>, X | CPU | Zen | |
| 2000 | G, GE | APU | Zen | |
| 2000 | U, H | Mob. CPU | Zen | |
| 2000 | <none>, X | CPU | Zen+ | |
| 3000 | G, GE | APU | Zen+ | |
| 3000 | U , H | Mob. CPU | Zen+ | |
| 3000 | <none>, X, XT | CPU | Zen 2 | |
| 4000 | G, GE | APU | Zen 2 | The one you found |
| 4000 | U, H, HS | Mob. CPU | Zen 2 | |
| 4000 | ? | CPU | Zen 3 | The one we are waiting for |

The desktop Ryzen 4000 CPUs aren't available yet, so I put a "?" for possible suffixes. But I guess it will be "none", "X" and/or "XT" again.

Depends. Cheaper than MSRP, immediately. However most of the Zen 2 chips are already selling at a discount. For example, the Ryzen 5 3600 launched at $199, but can regularly be found now for $159. A theoretical 4600, might also launch at $199, The 3600 might still sell for $159, but it would definitely never approach $199 again.

Eventually, you might see the Zen 2 chips go even lower than current discounts, but I'd imagine that would actually take a while. They'd still be an excellent value at current prices.

The new CPU will have same socket?

Will I need to upgrade MB you think?

b550 will be fine, that's why a 3600 is recommended even if u don't wanna wait, no point spending more on old tech. i expect a 3900x to be 200usd used in a year, a 3950x about 450usd. If you decide to go zen 3 i expect a price jump since there...isn't competition.

B550, but I am still focused on the X570. So, cause of my Curent build issue, I am thinking not to wait for the new CPU line, and just to get 3700x.
And in case the new one will benefit me, i will but latter next year or so. And just keep the MB

Zen 3 will still use AM4, and will be supported with any B550 or X570 board (after a BIOS update).

B450 boards will likely support it as well. However, that will require a one-way beta BIOS update, which will remove support for older CPUs from the chipset. While you can get by if you have to, I wouldn't recommend using B450 if at all possible, if you intend to upgrade to Zen 3. First, the "beta" there should scare you. I would never trust a beta BIOS unless you're very confident in your tech skills and are willing to absorb the risk of issues, bugs, etc. Second, this is entirely up to the board manufacturers. They could choose not to offer this, if they want, and there's certainly no guarantees that you would get regular performance/security fixes like you would on the GA BIOS releases.

You cant blame the motherboard because windows update broke something.

It's more like windows broke itself.
