Hi I'm a first time builder and I'm wondering what headset i should get, I currently have a very cheap Hunterspider brand headset that goes for like 20 dollars on amazon so lets just say im not very experienced.

For the headset, I would like it to be on the more (actually looks like a headphone instead of a ATC headset look). I would also like it to have a decent mic on it since I want to use it with VR (going to buy a quest when the new version releases and i also have a crappy usb mic from amazon that costed like 10 bucks [CMTECK]) and as you know it ain't so easy to put a usb mic on a vr headset. ear comfortability is also something I'm looking for along with actual good high def audio (going to buy a b550 gaming carbon wifi with my new build).  I have a pretty skinny head compared to most so i dont have too hard of a time when it comes to the clamping force of a headset put on the head (however, i would still like good ear cusioning)

I'm currently looking at these headsets:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B32GY9Z?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1

Note: i chose to link se version of the virtuoso over the regular one because i feel more comfortable with it being more metallic makes it feel more cleaner and more durable to me

At the low-mid end, I think the Coolermaster MH751 or 752 (is wireless)  is the best choice. It's built around a really good budget set of headphones. The Hyper-X cloud 2s also get a mention here.

If you have more money to burn, a Beyerdynamic MMX300 or anything from Sennheiser would be quite nice.

If you're looking to spend that much, don't buy from either of those brands. Seriously. I love Corsair, and actually use a Void PRO headset, but that's strictly for gaming and I would never recommend them on the basis of speaker sound quality (mic is good tho).

Depending on how serious you are about sound quality, you could either buy a good quality headset (like the Void Pro) and buy a pair of high end headphones for music, movies, etc. or you could buy a "highish" end headset that tries to do both. Take a look at this Sennheiser Game Zero. Mic quality? Check. Speaker quality? Check. Fair price? Check. As somewhat of an audiophile, I could recommend these as an all-around headset that doesn't break the bank. If you're willing to spend more, Sennheiser has some other solid offerings that you should check out. This isn't to say you should limit yourself to just Sennheiser, but I've personally had great experiences with their products.

Id like the throw the HyperX Clouds in to the ring. I owned a pair at one time. They lasted me about 2.5 years. I end up breaking cables which is why I choose to go bluetooth. But the Clouds were decent and the mic wasn't that bad, at least no one ever complained. The fact is I wore them for hours and hours each day, so they saw heavy use. I also owned a pair of Razer Kracken's but that was back in 2013 and they lasted maybe 3 years but again I destroyed the cabling.

My current headset is the Sennheiser H4.40. Its bluetooth which means its kinda universal. I use it on my Macbook, gaming PC and iPhone. They can plug in, but the mic doesn't work when plugged in.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
