Then the last possible culprit is the CPU cooler, I guess?

To answer your initial question, an NH-D15 should be a great pairing for the 10700K, with the Dark Rock Pro 4 and then the NH-U12A also being some solid alternatives.

Hey I have a i7 10700k and a Asus Z490 PLUS WIFI and the cooler i use is Be Quiet Pure Rock BK009.

when i play games for a few minutes my cpu starts overheating(gets to 95+ degrees) and throttling.

i wanted to ask if changing my cooler to a noctua nh-d15s will help and i wanted to aski if there is a way to check if the problem is cpu or motherboard related.

What are your temps?

What cooler do you have now ? And how do you know that you're thermal throttling?

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Well that's not necessarily the best cooler. You can try reseating it and reapplying thermal paste.

It will. Though the d15 while good. Expensive. Even an nhu12s should do the job.

i would try to reinstall the cooler. maybe it has too much/too little paste, or isn't tightened enough.

you can also try adding another fan to the cooler.

if al these don't work, go for the nh-d15

already tried to and the is a good amount of thermal paste

The Pure Rock isn't exactly ideal, but I can't imagine it won't be enough in real-world tasks for a 10700K. What are your temps in gaming for example, not during stress testing?

Also, have you changed anything in the BIOS related to the power limits or MCE for the CPU? Or rather what clock speeds are you getting on your CPU at load?

my temps during gaming or around 90+ degrees.all the power limits are set to auto. and the clock speed is set to auto and it gets to 4.7ghz under load

Alright, have you got XMP enabled?

Install HWiNFO64, check your Vcore, VCCSA and VCCIO voltages at load and report them here.

What case are you using and how's the airflow situation in it, and what are your ambient temps?

i had xmp enabled but it made my cpu work at 100% frequancy all the time.

i installed the program but i cant find the Vcore, VCCSA and VCCIO voltages.

i'm using an antec nx600 with 4 fans 3intakes and 1exhaust.my ambient temp is 25 degrees

I assume you've got the three intakes in the front of the case? If I'm seeing it correctly and the only way for those front fans to take air in is a slit in the bottom of the panel, I'd guess there's probably barely any airflow inside your case.

When you open HWiNFO up, tick the "Sensors-only" option. Then, you should look for a section related to your motherboard (so it should say "ASUS TUF Z490 ....."). It should look something like this:

Also, XMP shouldn't turn your CPU's frequency up, that's pretty strange. Are you running the latest BIOS and a fresh install of Windows (as in not an older Windows install from another system or different CPU/motherboard/etc)?

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Alright, VCCSA should be fairly close to it, but VCCIO and Vcore sound normal.

Can you take the front panel of the NX600 off, while keeping the fans in place? Just to confirm whether airflow's the issue or not.

Did you remove the protective plastic under the cooler? Did you apply thermal paste? Did you mount the cooler according to the instructions?

If yes, then there's nothing you can do except enjoy your Intel CPU which overheats because Intel has been using the same outdated production process for 5 years.
